Fair Booth Volunteer Guide

Description:

Beginning the afternoon of Thursday, first week in August and running through the following Sunday, the fair will feature a traditional livestock auction and exhibits as well as live entertainment and a full carnival with rides and games for guests of all ages. A wide array of fair food will also be available throughout the weekend.

A booth at the REF provides visibility for the IMDC and the MCDP. [Education] It provides a vehicle to bring our progressive ideals to the general public and opportunities to [Election] register voters and encourage Democratic votes.

The booth is acquired and paid for by the Central Committee including most of the collateral

Duration
The fair runs from the first Thursday in August through the following Sunday

  • Days 1 & 2  3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Day 3        12:00 PM – 9:00 PM PM
  • Day 4        12:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Volunteer Roles

Staff Booth
Each shift is 2 hours and needs 2 people

  • Days 1 & 2   3 shifts 
  • Days 3 & 4  4  shifts - last shift 3 hours

Staffing Booth Activities

  • Register Voters
    • Hand voter a registration form
    • Assist voter to fill in form
    • Collect form
    • May use online voter registration if desired
  • Engage People - Talking Points
  • Solicit Club Memberships

    Volunteers should remind all donors that we need money to cover the expenses for this election, and every dollar counts in this election to save our democracy!

    • Buttons (suggested donation $3.00)
    • Bumper stickers (suggested donation $3.00)
    • Cash donations
    • T shirts (if available - donations of $20 or more)
  • Arrange Collateral and Material 
    • Put donations jars in prominent place
    • Bring some paper weights (rocks - check MHQ Kit))
    • Set our materials about candidates on table/ironing board
    • Registration materials for new voters should be prominent

  • Bring your own water bottle
  • Bring your own chair or use the folding chair supplied
  • Bring any snacks you may need

Level of Effort
Two hours of exciting activity and opportunity to engage with your fellow citizens and help to save our Democracy from the evil forces afoot in our land.

Set-up Take Down 

The booth set-up and take down tasks are done by the MCDP fair personnel. These tasks are done prior to and at the end of the fair and require no volunteer resources.
