Exec Members Present: 6
Fred Mervine (Pres), Helen Sizemore, Steve Scalmanini, Kayla Meadows, Tekla Broz, Fred Mervine, and Robin Sunbeam (Treas), Michelle Hutchins is out of town.  Kayla volunteered but Robin took the minutes.  Quorum: Yes

  1. Call to order / Welcome
  2. Revision and approval of agenda
    20241124 Motion to Approve Agenda as published: Unanimous
  3. Consider February 2023 Executive Committee Minutes Fred found 2 errors and corrected them on the website.

  4. Treasurer’s Report

    1. Approve new Members in Good Standing:
      1. No new members.  Only 1 old member paid up their membership dues, Mo Mulheren.
    2. Discuss Financial Policy
      1. Robin reviewed the draft policy which brought up many questions.
      2. Should we have a minimum or maximum limit in the checking account?
      3. Should we invest the excess cash in a CD?
      4. Should the Treasurer be allowed to spend cash in an emergency without Exec Council pre-approval?  If so, what is the limit?
      5. Robin will eliminate PayPal from the policy and change "Working Groups" to Ad Hoc Groups.
      6. The Exec Committee will work with the Treasurer on an annual budget.
      7. All members of the Exec Committee will carefully review the draft policy for next month.
  5. Chair’s Report
    1. Fred was too busy to prepare a complete report.
      1. The recording of the Forum on Homelessness is posted on Jukebox.
  6. Business
    1. WHO ARE WE? Where do go from here? 2024 is on the way!
      Continue this discussion from the last monthly meeting.
      Ad hoc committee reports:

      1.  Club Meetings Venue - Robin
        1. Robin secured the Willits Envioronmentsl Center at 650 S. Main St., Willits, for our April 13th monthly Club meeting.
        2. David Drell will unlock the door at 6pm and set up the large screen
        3. Kayla will bring beer
        4. Helen will buy Indian food from the TNT Market on Commercial St.  The Treasurer will reimburse her.
      2. Civic Visibility - Tekla
        1. Tekla put together a list of annual events in Mendocino County which is posted on our website
        2. Tekla volunteered to call each venue for more details, i.e. cost of entry, deadlines, etc.
        3. We need to confer with the MCDCC to coordinate and not conflict efforts on events
        4. Need to recruit volunteers. Best is to talk with them 1:1.
        5. Should we use our funds to recruit a volunteer recruiter? – tabled to next month
      3. Monthly newsletter (Fred)
        1. Fred has been doing a nice job of it.
        2. Fred invites others to send articles for the newsletter.
      4. PSA's (Robin) Robin has been broadcasting the PSA's on radio and newsprint. Need all info at least 2 weeks in advance.  Robin also posts our meeting on the IMDC Facebook page.
      5. 2024 Campaign - Steve- Fred
        1. Steve has put together a list of phone/text banks and postcard parties for various political actions around the nation.
        2. Steve will write a passionate paragraph to send out in the newsletter with links to phone banks also to solicit input on which political campaigns should our Club to focus?
      6. Community Forum  - Helen - Kayla
        Make an annual plan for meeting presentations

        1. Next month we can continue or Homelessness topic. We will invite local law enforcement to report what they are doing about the homeless population.  Kayla will make the calls.
        2. We can also invite Deborah Ramirez, Chair of the Little River Pomos. She is the sister of Buffy Schmidt who was recently honored for Women's History Month.
        3. We can also invite Eileen Mitro to discuss environmental issues. Her efforts recently stopped the cutting of 40 trees along the Great Redwood Trail.
  1. Good of the Order - We might consider regularly alternating our meetings between Ukiah and Willits.
